Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Strives("Strives", "we", "us"), available at strives.co.za. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who may use the service

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country) to use Strives. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent, guardian, or your school permits your use. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

2. What Strives is — and is not

Strives provides writing, organisation, and productivity tools, including automated writing analysis and a "Humaniser" that rewrites text. These features are assistive aids, not authorities:

  • Automated writing analysis is a probabilistic signal, not proof of authorship, AI use, or academic misconduct.
  • The Humaniser and analysis outputs may contain errors and must be reviewed by you before use.
  • Strives does not provide academic, legal, financial, or professional advice, and is not a substitute for your own judgement or your institution's policies.

You are solely responsible for how you use any output, including compliance with your school, university, or employer's rules on acceptable assistance and academic integrity.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to break the law, infringe others' rights, or violate your institution's policies.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to use, or that is unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
  • Attempt to breach security, probe, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Resell or provide the service to third parties except as expressly allowed for organisation accounts.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the text and files you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of Your Content and do not sell it. See our Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

  • Paid plans are billed through PayPal in the currency shown at checkout. Prices are displayed in ZAR and may be charged in a supported currency (e.g. USD) where PayPal does not support ZAR.
  • Paid plans are one-off charges for the stated period (monthly or annual) and do not auto-renew unless stated at checkout; access ends when the paid period expires.
  • You may cancel at any time from Settings. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any analysis or output is accurate or complete.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strives and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, marks, opportunities, profits, or academic or professional standing, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or ZAR 500, whichever is greater.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Strives and its operators from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service or your violation of these Terms.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
